It’s easy to convince yourself if you have mild asthma that you don’t really need to take your asthma inhaler every day. I know; I’m one of those who has mild persistent asthma and has sometimes gone months without treatment due to financial considerations.

But a new study out of Australia has validated the benefits for regular use of inhaled steroids even in people who have infrequent and fairly mild symptoms. It doesn’t take much – just a low dose of a daily inhaled steroid is enough to improve your lung function, reduce the inflammation of your airways and prevent asthma attacks.

If you’re not already taking an inhaled steroid and you’re having asthma symptoms, it’s time to talk with your doctor about adding one to your treatment plan.
