Asthma medicine varies greatly. Inhaled steroids such as Qvar are considered the gold standard of asthma treatment, in terms of controller medicines. But there are a number of other types of asthma medicines as well, including long-acting beta agonists and leukotriene modifiers. Each has advantages and disadvantages and some work better for certain people than others do.

Whatever type of asthma medicine you may take, it’s important to know how to take it correctly and what side effects to look out for. And if it isn’t controlling your asthma symptoms, then be sure to let your doctor know right away. A change in treatment may be in order.
