I’ve been encouraging my readers since September to get a flu shot. That’s because people who have asthma (and their family members) are among the most urgent high risk groups who are strongly urged to get an annual flu shot. If you get the flu, your asthma can quickly spiral out of control, since both asthma and the flu affect your airways. The combination is not a healthy one.
You might think it’s too late to get a flu shot, but that’s not true. According to the American Lung Association (ALA, for short), vaccine will continue to be available into early spring. Since immunity takes a couple weeks to reach full force after you get a flu shot, you should get yours right away if you haven’t already done so. It’s not too late.
The Centers for Disease Control have announced that this year’s vaccine rates are lower than they should be and cases of the flu are up. Do your part and get yourself and / or your kids vaccinated now.
