A communication from the Food & Drug Administration (FDA for short) released a few days ago revealed that they are investigating a possible link between Singulair, a common asthma / allergy medicine and mood changes and depression that might lead to suicide.

Although none of the 11,000 patients examined during the pre-release studies ever reported these side effects, there have been reports since Singulair has been on the market. So, the FDA will be looking into whether a link truly exists. They expect the investigation to take as long as 9 months.

Meanwhile, they emphasize that patients taking Singular should continue to do so for now. But if you have any questions at all about Singulair or if you notice any side effects of mood changes, depression or thoughts of suicide, be sure to talk with your doctor right away.
